seeing as the flags arrived faulty all be it not visible until they had been exposed to the elements they are covered under the The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002
http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html
"Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale)."
http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file25486.pdf
which is why its up to the supplier to sort this problem out and not the house owner or a contractor

I have been a lazy mofo in the last few weeks and all i have done is built the step at the back door and i will only put the acid on when i have finished the whole job.
The chances of getting either Bradstone or Simply Paving to send someone out is very remote indeed and i'm sure this will get rid of what i call the rusting spots.

What are you using for the jointing?

Hi Tony i was going to wait until we had a few nice days and do a dry mix and brush it in making sure i remove all the excess and give it a light mist of water.
Would Silver sand be ok to use as it is finer and would get between the blocks also a 3:1 ratio.
Again it would have been dry for a good few days before i even attempted to do this and ideally the ready mix stuff you can buy but my budget at the moment is zero.

I *really* don't like dry brushing-in on shot-textured flags. Even when they are bone dry, some of the cement powder remains stuck to the surface, and creates a haze or stain. But then, dry-brushing never makes a good joint. Unless it's done to a freshly-buttered joint during the laying process, it always results in a feeble, fragile joint that is rapidly colonised by vegetation and comes out if power-washed.
What about summat like "Magic Sand"?

That Magic Sand looks interesting, how does the end result compare to Romex and GftK?
