as mentioned before the relief was so great i wasn't really listening
the muscle is still giving me gyp today but at least i know what it is now
lying in the hossy bed all sorts of dark thoughts start running through your mind
anyway onwards and upwards
this time next year we will all be millionaires!
Good to hear, and with you on the NHS - they always seem to get bad press? - I thought they were fantastic when I broke shoulder & fractured skull year before last - appreciate your "lying in the dark and thinking the worst" - very evocative.
You'll mend - just takes a little longer as we get older...

Laughter is the best medicine. Just hijacking your post LLL.
Went to the Dr yesterday, a bit down and worrying ( as you do ) Took the wife for moral support. walked in sat down, my seat was lower than usual and went with a crash, My wife had similar seat, so a loud oops!! The Dr laughed and said "are you the double act i booked" As i was trying to explain symptoms, i thought i'd tell him my work regime and what a hard day i have, so i said " i abuse myself ".....Wrong thing to say, as he and my wife cracked up. You lot know what i meant...doncha ??? The rest of the surgery was a riot  On the way out the Drs parting shot was..."you need to take him in hand." I'm sure there was'nt any pun intended, was there ? . I felt a lot better for the laughter, the NHS need more Drs like him and we could cut the cost of prescriptions.
Just another bit about intercostal muscles. You tend to be 'dominant hand justified' in this game, so if your right handed, you tend to use it more often than not. The pain will usually manafest itself on the opposing side to this. Try and use your weaker side to balance out muscle usage. Over development on one side can lead to this type of pain. Had the same this weekend after erecting 96' x 86' teak double doors and frame at rear of garden
