yeah its a paving show with paving suppliers, paving manufacturers and possibly paving installers all having a stand plus equipment relating to paving

what would you interpret a paving show to be all about Irish ?

nah I'm not looking for a fight at all :p

the big manufacturers don't seem to be spending as much as they have done in previous years including having a stand at trade shows, I think it was mentioned last year that the Glee trade show was down on exhibitors compared to previous years

there is a floor plan on the WOP website showing the layout and stands already taken

left hand side menu if you click on exhibiting and then floor plan and on the home page of WOP are the logo's of the companies exhibiting

although i would like to meet up with some of the "faces" from the brew cabin irregulars, loyalty to the gaffer precludes me from going

you have to remember that these people have knocked him for his modest fees for helping them set this thing up

if I went i would be condoning people who dont pay their bills
so i wont be there

i know where your coming from Luton and your absolutely right in thinking that way, I was going to go just for the meeting up with other brew cabin members until I have just seen the floor plan of who is exhibiting and to be honest I feel its a waste of my time going

1 and a half hours to get there, 1 and a half hours to get back and 20 minutes walking round, its not worth loosing a days time for seeing so little

Two more emails again today same as the one posted earlier!!
Why send them to me? anyone else getting them?

This sort of show is something I wouldn't attend anyway, we clean I don't lay the stuff, hope no-ones offended.
plus two other reasons,
1, Ater reading Tony's post/blog
2 I had a run-in on a previous post/thread with WOP and IMO the guy is an amerture, don't have time for people like this.

Thats what i was hinting at mick. Based on a public view if they are to walk around a paving show they would expect to see marshalls brett bradstone etc with stands. There's not to many names that they would reconize nor me for that matter.

Pound to a penny this will be a flop. Any installer that buys into a stand needs to spend as i said before about 5k or they will be landed into dead spots in the arena. You need 1k for the stand and spend at least a few k on sponsor.

I also stand by LLL on this and would not attend and me heart goes out to Tony Mc because i would imagine that when this opportunity came along this was a great chance to do finally get together the big manufacturers main suppliers and contractors together and share there thoughts and ideas etc.

Thats why i think large shows like this need to be led from the start by the industries own people (cough TonyMc) and not large marketing companies.Thats why they probably come across amature like you say Rodger.

Going to sends my emails now to some suppliers just to say i will no longer buy there products if they attend the show, full on boygod :D

I have to limit what I say as I've instructed a debt recovery company to see how much of the several thousand pounds that I'm owed can actually be recovered, but...

NONE of the major manufacturers are attending

A very small number of small/medium paving suppliers are provisionally attending

Most of the other exhibitors that are attending might best be described as "accessory and ancillary suppliers"

The event will receive no publicity on this site, so even those exhibitors run by people I consider to be personal friends will receive no publicity for attending

Does the trade really want to do business with a company that rips off small contractors? There are enough rogues in this trade without an event allegedly promoting the industry swelling their ranks.

I know the guy who is running this show day to day, I've bought stuff off him in the past and he is a top bloke I dont like seeing you people posting rubbish here about someone you don't know just cos your gaffer has a cob on with him you should grow up - especially the bloke who wants to ban his suppliers from going to the thing - what are you on fella?

Mr Pressure Washer - you are talking about someone who has laid just about every paving you can think off - blocks, stone, PIC, stencil, exposed agg, resin bound, you name it and he's done it and he's done training all over the world and designed and manufactured products like sealers, and was one of the first people in the UK to buy and use a flat surface washer - who the hell are you to call him an "amerture" ?

MickG - 20 minutes walking round the show? Have you look at what's there? Just because Marshalls prefer meeting Joanna Lumley at Chelsea to hairy arsed sods like us in Coventry? if you want to see a display of blocks go down to Jewsons, I want to see new stuff, try learn something like laying stone to BS so I can look at council and theme park work. I want to see the concrete polishing and have a look at that stencil concrete, all the different suds stuff including these bound gravel grids which seem likely to be popular and have a look at the bigger kit see what's new with Belle, Stihl, Probst, people like that stuff we use every day.

I think it's good for this industry to have a show and I think we should support it - me and my blokes will be jumping in the van first thing and heading up to Coventry, we'll have at least a 5 hour round trip but it'll be a good day out, a few beers, we are looking forward to it.

And you "Gaffer" - if you reckon someone owes you money, do what I do, get your brief onto them, " I can't say anything because I have a debt collection agency on the case" - more likely you are expecting a great big court case from WOP.

almost forgot I rang WOP to find out what all this was about and whether he minded if I made a post in here and he told me - these are my words, your "Gaffer" wanted money for 4 months where he didn't do a thing al though he was offered the full amount talked about long as he did the work, he said no and spat out his dummy, all this about being ripped off is rubbish - have any of you seen any proof it? No, I bet you haven't.

After this winter times are tough, I need to have as many different things to offer as I can, whacking down tegulas week in week out is not going to cut it any more so I'm going to the show.

So why doesn't Mr Wonderful come and put his case in print, as I have done? Instead, he inspires some eejit with no credentials to post second-hand news and a slew of total lies, having conned the poor sap into believing every word he's told without question.

FACT: I was promised a monthly fee for use of my brand to promote the event

FACT: I was only ever paid for one month despite my logo being used on the WoP website for 10 months. I want what is owed for 9 months, not 4 months.

FACT: I was offered a partial settlement with the bulk of what was owed to be paid *after* the show, in breach of the agreement made in January 2009

FACT: I offered a solution to pay what was owed over a period of 4 months prior to the show and Callaghan refused to accept the deal

FACT: Both Callaghan and Liverman sent highly abusive and offensive emails to me when I withdrew my support. Lovely people, they are!

These are not off-the-cuff comments. I have documentary proof of everything I have stated, and it has been passed on to my solicitors and the debt collectors. I'm hardly likely to publish untruths on a public forum.

I've publicly stated my case. Your good mate Callaghan has been noticeably absent since I allegedly "spat out my dummy". Why is that, do you think?

Why haven't I heard a peep from WoP's alleged solicitors? Could it possibly be because there is no case against me. They unilaterally changed the terms of the agreement and omitted to inform me for 4 months. I fulfilled my obligations and they welshed on what was owed.

You seem very trusting for a man who tries to make out he's impartial in all this. Did you bother to call me after your call to Callaghan? Did you bother to read what I wrote in the news section before Christmas? Not exactly deep and thorough research is it? You could be a stooge, a troll, or both. I think we all know where you're coming from.

If you want to support the sort of person who rips off tradesmen when they've done the work or provided the materials, so be it, but then don't expect any sympathy from decent, honourable tradesmen the next time someone rips off you!

Just a thought - Friend Johnthepaver is posting from an IP address in France (90.60.109.189), the same place where Callaghan hides out, which is why my solicitor is having such fun and games trying to track him down. Coincidence?

How many lads "whacking down tegulas week in week out" are based in France?
