painting railings in epping forrest £20 a day for 8 hrs shift
tarmaccing with *big jerry* £25 a day for 12 hr shift
stripping wallpaper £10 a room
and they were the good jobs!!

Aged 15, working in a cotton mill, the only male on a spinning floor with 38 cackling harridans. 20 quid a week after tax.

worked on little ollerton colliery toshing (rough painting )the steelwork. bosons chair at 16 also painting gasholders and cranes. no harnesses then. £6 quid a day, that was big money, digs £2.17/6 a week. I still believe in the 5 fingured discount at b@q :;):

I worked up to 80 hours a week and got about £60 cash and I done it for ages, then the hours got lighter, so I done my own jobs till god noses what time at night, then jacked the firm and went on my own at 21 and never looked back (only because I'm scared too)
