If you decide to find a quote online with a shopbot or similar try not to give any phone numbers (many wont provide a quote without one though)

The bastards never stop phoning and every year after they surface a month before the renewal date trying the big sell.

I stupidly lost my NCB because Mrs Taz claimed for a stolen SatNav, value 300 quid. Premium the following year went up from, and this is no word of a lie, from 480 quid to two thousand, five hundred quid and one pence!

I nearly had another heart attack! That was the AA - the robbing bastards. It all dragged on for nearly 12 months, and I cancelled my membership. The gits wouldn't even let me off the one pence!

A Mitsubishi dealer (I drive a L200 4 Life) put me on to A-Plan, and even with the lost NCB, and improved cover, the premium came in just under a grand. When out of interest, I asked for a quote on my house insurance, they offered a policy with twice the value of cover, and threw in contents cover of 75 grand for HALF of what I had been paying to my bank!

funnily enough, got my renewal notice through last night. they want £890 , that with max no claims, and one other to drive a nissan cabstar double cab tipper.
they reckon its the tipper that makes it expensive as not many insurers will touch them
Phoned NFu today. £470. with protected no claims!!

just renewed my ford ranger with norwich union thru commercial vehicle direct

tried them online. They said a cabstar was a car, and couldn't insure it. gave up!

Another vote for Gladiator. Been with them for quite a few years, wrote off a small van & get a decent price & even loosing some NCB & going to a larger van it was not too painful.

Paving about £320 for my van, and about £550 for my Land Rover Defender (first quote for that was £2720.00) :p
The AA is ok for me now, as well as Swinton and wor lass uses the Post office which beat everyone hands down.

16 months ago my loverly partner had a totting up 10 week ban, with A-plan the insurance went up about £50 for a L200 Mitzi Animal double cab.
Just got my renewel with 5 years no claims (the nice people at the court cleaned the license - so no points) and it is now £654.04

Tain't true, that got abolished a few years ago as being illegal:
Office of Fair Trading: New car warranty

Main dealers tend to keep quiet about it - wonder why?

Agree with you Lynn - as an ex-main dealer service manager myself, I was very aware of this ruling.

Now I encourage people to take their in-warranty vehicles to independant workshops, using genuine parts.

Good on yer Dave,
If more people were aware of the new ruling the main dealers would start to get a bit more compative.
