contamination suits like the forensics wear. save getting clothes covered in concrete, then throw them away. and should have goggles, task specific for concrete, save the eyes :)

only trouble with the bunyan tube is it does fling concrete everywhere and you have to have good lads in the middle to keep up with it. Nice flat bays though.

Does your firm have one sean or hire it in? To keep the tube nice and straight they say you have to store it on a special trailer looks like a nuclear missile carrier almost. probably a bit involved for smalish firms.

That pic is straight out of their catalogue...probably taken about 1980 something judging by the mush in the shellsuit :p

p.s I wil post some scans of my "Concrete society publications from the olden days"...white disposable suits??? goggles??? WIND 'ER OUT ...DOG IT IN BOYS!!!

As well as advising DIYers etc on how to do a job, we should also advise on the health and safety issues. Correct ppe is very important. have'nt you ever had a splash of concrete in your eye, concrete burn on your skin ??? Contact dermatitis, or other skin infections may occur. Also why ruin your own clothes with wet concrete? :;):

Talking of concrete burns and the like

Is it just me, or does Mr. Orange hard hat look like he’s just wearing boots and not wearing any wellies

The unsoiled or dark trouser line upon his leg, makes it look like his trousers might have been pulled outside of any Wellingtons he’s wearing, but it’s hard to see properly – well hard for me to see, so is it time I gave Specsavers a ring then :D

its the mystery of the missing welly, whenever we are concreting i go the the welly bag in the lock up,and 1 welly boot has done the off!! i am pretty anal about cleaning tools equipment etc ,but everytime i look there are always an odd number of wellys

its lagerlouts last theorem

x1+Y1=(number of boots/number of workers -1)

LLL :;):

...you'll find it in that black hole, along with sock, gloves teaspoons etc  sorry onionboy but my mother sadly passed away. I would'nt of brought concrete covered clothes home to be washed by my mother anyway. and the dust off them, as in asbestos is a killer so best to wear a disposable suit so you can peel it off and skip it :p

sorry to hear that sean

For the record I do all my own washing & ironing all my work gear goes in a bucket of water before its allowed in the washing machine, and diesely stuff gets washed in brown malt vinegar first. the vinegar cuts the oil and takes away the diesel stink.

I have put the old concrete photies in nother thread for your enjoyment...seanandrhubarb :)

Surely the white suits are for when they're digging out the bodies, not when you're burying 'em?

Vinegar gets rid of the diesel smell? That's useful to know oioi.

Got a machine at our yard for overalls etc but sometimes me clothes etc get a little diesely. Not that we use diesel when we lay tarmac errrr
