ha ha yes! the upper window opens! I deliberately put it in in case I gave up and wanted to jump.
The bottom bit goes nowhere... just a place to hang and smoke, but it is the area I need to lift up. you can see where the bifolds will go, on the upstand there, so I wanna make outside flush with inside.

There going to be some steep steps, shame they didnt leave an opening to bring the steps through the reinforced wall, are you rendering the walls?

dont know how it works for patio and slab to be lvl when we do flat roof balconeys we have to have at least 150mm up stand to door maybe different for this sort of work

Yup, all rendered around the inside. Is there a maximum angle for stairs? i'm working on 220 rise by 260 going. That ok?

that about the max you can go
I have a feeling that stairs must be between 180-220mm max rise
bigger the going the better
gonchy if the OP has a drain in front of the upstand and suitable damp proofing it can be flush,we do this on disabled adaptions

It's worth hiring a competent architect and discussing your needs. The site layout and structural requirents are slightly more complex than a 'q and a' on a forum. :;):

I thought 180mm rise was max for stairs?
Kids are going to have a hard time getting over a 220mm rise!

I agree but the most important thing is that all treads and risers are equal
older property commonly has 225 rise and 150 treads
saving space
