yeah at least we now have someone we can turn to on concrete questions for definitive answers

the biggest issue i get is that you go to look at a job and the client
says "what do you reckon it needs"?

basically asking the builder to be a structural engineer

I know what is likely to be ok but it is impossible for me to back this up in the event of failure
that slab we poured at the factory lost all its surface within 12 months,it hasnt cracked and its still there just the surface looks exposed
we were undermanned that day (me and a 19 yr old lad) it was fairly cold and the driver*wetted * the mix up
all the fail markers are there eh?

thanks for the advice lads, I think we are settling on 180mm
to 200mm thick concrete, with the fibre glass reinforcing and dowel bars, it`s a tamp finish with a trowel around the edge,
fingers crossed for some half decent weather
