there is an independent plastic good supplier near me
IOCE plastics summat like that
anyway a rest bend from them costs about £6
I was on a job in berkhamsted and i needed one and it was a 30 miles round trip to IOCE
travis perkins charged me something nuts like £22
time and motion meant that it wasn't worth my time and the diesel driving back
but because of the shabby way they treat people i avoid
btw we did have an account in the luton branch but after getting charges £11 per metre for some skirting I rage quit

never had that problem to be honest and i've been in a lot of TP's all round the north west

one branch went out of their way to get 1 tegula kerb external corner sent up from London via DHL for the same price we pay in the north west plus the cost of the currier

thats giving a service in my opinion so I will use them again

funny enough gibbs and dandys did exactly the same for me before xmas mick
2 tegula external corners in pennant grey
I suppose the moral here is that ,all BMs look after their own.
A m8 of mine works for borras and they get massive discount 70% off list or something, thats why it hurts when you have set up terms and you get your invoice and they have charged you list price
TBh i dont mind paying a bit more if they are honest with delivery times etc
nothing worse than men standing around waiting for a late delivery
cheers

absolutely Luton, I have always had an excellent service off the merchants I use and in return they get paid quickly too, they go hand in hand as you can't jump on the phone demanding a wagon comes to your job ASAP when your 3 weeks behind paying your account :D

I don't know if you get the same in your area Luton as the shades can vary up and down the country with the different sands but the colour of the pennent grey with the tint of buff looks superb

the traditional kerb colour vary too much from one block to the next and you might as well of put a black one next to a white one sometimes the colours are that far out

TBH mick we were under pressure to build the step and when we were told they had no corners in stock (why oh why?) we built it and left gaps
when i put the corners in the nest day they looked different but once everything got wet they look identical
will post a pic when i get back

we get great service from travis, but like i say we do 300k plus with them but we still jump between branches, timber from salford, underground drainage from macc they have a massive yard there, like the salford yard is a massive timber yard, you are right about the branch managers needed some steps the other day our were at the yard, went wilmslow travis and guy did me set of 7 step youngmans in resin for £42+vat listed at 75.

we get quotes off travis and then let our local independent bm have the travis quote and see if they can match it. if they can we go with the local yard, therefore we get preferential delivery can ring up and normally they'll bump someone else or slip your order in same day. we get our sand from local bm much nicer golden yellow colour compared to the orange stuff from tavis.

we did a job once and ended up using jewsons as only option and they tried their hardest to keep us took all the lads to aintree for the races in their vip area etc, lads loved it.

to be honest the retail prices are scary but like i say we pay half the price per metre for finishing timber and even cheaper for full packs of scant 4x2 etc.

bulk will always get you cheaper prices,

when we did our drive/garden got most of our stuff from jewsons as cash sales through kiers/amecs accounts.
