Sorry to ask again but does anyone know where I can get a price for the aco brickslot drains? I have just seen them on their website but it doesn't mention suppliers etc.... also I see on the main site that Gatic do similar ones too -again I can't find suppliers!
I think we have reached a compromise re the surface water drainage (instead of the soakaway idea which is agreed won't work)where the runoff will be towards the house either to the above type drain system linking it to the main drain or via a concrete channel to the main drain.... I guess the latter is cheaper and could be filled with a bit of decorative agregate to hide it.... any thoughts on these options??Thanks

Hi again-Robster I don't know if I am allowed to post a link to another site here but this one on linear french drains is quite good and is the same principle that the builder is proposing at the foot of my house.....I know they advise siting it a few feet from the foundation but does it really matter if its not? Obviously only if it works though!

I contacted Gatic direct re:their paveslot product and their salesman quoted me a price for direct supply.
In the case of their smallest, (100mm wide), channel he quoted £279 per 3m length.

The french drain in the link is for transporting water to another location though, not for infiltrating it into the ground near to the building, so in that case it's fine to have it closer to the house than you would a soakaway. 
I've seen french drains (a.k.a. filter drains) located right next to buildings...so the 4-6 feet they recommend should be fine.

Thanks Rob- yep the builder is planning on doing the french linear drain at the foot of the house to transport it to the existing aco drain and cover it with decorative aggregate(so there will be 6" between the edge of the paving and the house wall in which the drain lies.) It sounds like it should do the job and is a cheaper alternative to the brickslot gatic drain priced above! £300 for 3m thats unreal!(thanks buk) Looks nice though....
