You'd be doing well to cart that, using that small machine in that timespan!

I might add...

few PIC companies build in edging stones; I think they are a good idea and it is not much work to set them in place once the area is excavated...

I think they are more important for PIC or concrete drives compared to other surfaces as a satisfactory patch repair is difficult with PIC...

If the council were to damage the PIC, it is blatantly their fault. To be really safe, I would recommend taking a photo of the drive if the council were to give notice that any work is to be done to that street's pavement.

Of my two reasons for edging stones, damage by the council is likely to be the reason why they are best justified IMHO.

A well-laid slab should IMO be able to withstand a car's weight being transferred on to it...

you off to the climate camp suggers??

If I was 30 yrs younger I might well be - isn't runway 3 gonna wipe an old village called Sipson, and it's surroundings, off the map? - Heathrow has been a truly British cock-up from start to never endng finish - from 1947 onwards - who allows a major international airport to develop, 15 miles from a capital city - only us - as for the greedy fat cats at BAA, need shagging up the proverbial - they all have a nice period pile in Surrey or somewhere - well away from any flightpath.
I love Terminal 5 - fantastic - get rid of the others - make public transport free and vote Boris in as mayor just for a laugh -
Leave Luton alone.... used to be lovely little place..
Stansted is going mad as well -
Rant over - sorry Nick to hijack - looks a brill job - you can be well proud.

Hi,
Sorry couldnt resist adding a comment or two, I am a representative of the said company Superior Driveways.
Firstly, there is no major miracle occurring with the excavation, just the clever use of trick photography, in that you cant see the other 2.3Tonne excavator and the 2 teams used on the job!! :p
Secondly, regards the contraversial use of edgings, well its a matter of IMO's, but we have had experience of the opposite, in that edgings were used and the council came and damaged those, badly! customer wanted them replacing, let you work the rest out, obvoiusly we didnt risk breaking them out and causing potential damage to the driveway. We have never in our mere 15 years experience been called to carry out such repairs caused by a damaged edge. We do try to incorporate an apron as per this installation to act as the sacrificial layer.
Also as a company we hold the contracts with several major utility companies to carry out "patch" repairs for all PIC jobs, and have done this sucsessfully on every occasion, and in our opinion no product is much better than any other for "patching", this is always a tricky process but we firmly believe PIC is perfectly capable of being patched to a high standard and moreso than blocks and other products majority of the time.
