Wouldn't use building sand for slurry.

You could use anything from 3 to 6/1. I know Cookies pointed a few sett drives with 6/1 sharp/cement slurry.

I usually do:
3/4 Sharp 1 Cement + sbr 200-400ml makes a good mix. Mixer full at a time (Bucket gauged).

I also use Hanson high strength cement (Cem1). Goes off little bit quicker and has higher initial and final strength than GPC.

Sawn paving with 8-10mm joints

You'll be able to get most of the slurry off with your squeegee. Get one of these http://www.tradetiler.com/washboy-by-karl-dahm.html they work great for me .

Did you use a belt cleaner on it mate?
How long did you leave it to go off for before sponging the joints?

Lovely work there BTW.
Is that the York mix from natural paving?

No by hand with the wash buckets. Depends on the weather but this time of year I will slurry 2-3 mixer loads in then clean before I slurry any more.

Cleaning some Indian sandstone with limestone sett border. Virtually no water on the sponge.

yep i bought the kardon hand cleaner handy for the small jobs belt cleaner on big ones stick with the plastering sand and cem 1 be carefully which one you buy had rugby cement last project its dark and goes of quick always batch

and sbr the cost is a no brainer search around for 20 litre and decant

plastering sand gives a better finnish on fine paving

Cheers for the advice Cookie and everyone else.
I had some weatherpoint in a tub and did a small area to see if the client would prefer it to mortar and he does.
Had my washboy ready to go as well.
All the slabs are down so the job should by finished tomorrow.
I'll post some pictures up when it's finished.
