Cheers for the pictures Mark, that is pretty much as Paul described.
I'll be using the rustic on my next job but if I can't get a clean cut line I won't be cutting all the 800x800'ss through the centre.
The slight spelling around the outside shouldn't be a problem.

After trying a few blades and methods I am now convinced a continuos rim tile blade is the best.
My original issue with this blade was its overheating and melting the slabs.
Have found by running it through mortar after every few cuts brings it back to life.
Set Mortar not conc commons or blocks. It's the abrasiveness of the sand that cleans it up. You'll cut through the 800 no problem and curves.
I've been using the SPECTRUM SL ULTIMATE. I've since seen it on the Internet for around £28.

Cheers Mark, sounds like good advice.
The reason I said about cutting through the 800x800's is because I was thinking of cutting through them all and laying the the whole job in 400 courses but even if the spalling is only slight I think I'lI just stick to the laying pattern.

We laid two patio areas in the same garden using the buff to both a pattern and coursed by chucking two 400x400 in the course and looks fine, will show some piccies soon.
Or you could lay a course 800 wide and a course 400 wide.
The 400x400 are 398mm so there is no silly tight joint.

I was thinking about an 800 course followed by a 400.
800 is too big for a course in my mind but I haven't seen it on the ground.
I know i'd better make my mind up because I start the job next week lol.

Simon, will have some images of 800 coursed over the weekend.
Mick, tried wet and dry. Prefer dry, seems to cut faster as long as every few cuts the blade is run through something abrasive. A lump of yesterday's unused mortar works a treat.
Look forward to others observations on cutting this material.

I watched a video of dry cutting and it cut fine using the landscaper blade but did not show a close up to see if the edge had chipped
like you say running the saw through something softer than the material you are cutting works, I have used a light weight block to clean the diamonds when it stops work as efficient

Sorry for the delay Simon. Was away the weekend and using the laptop, for some reason when trying to view the forum a message kept coming up which prevented me from viewing or posting.
Not sure if it was because I was still logged in on the home pc.
Hope these are useful. We used the grey grout which I think gives more definition.

I know mate feels like I've been there since christmas.
We started the first week of March and are looking to finish this Friday with just the turf to go down and a clean up.
Did take a fortnights holiday which lost 2.5 weeks with the flights and just 2 of us on site apart from a few days help from a bricky.
A loser though
