The way I see it if a supplier wants to get noticed and get his links used he needs to be an ongoing contributor.
If he doesn't contribute, he doesn't get seen and vanishes back into the ether along with the others.
If all he does is post constantly to blatantly advertise then I'm sure the mods will deal with it.
Give the bloke a chance and lets see.

he dont need to come back, he has his keywords and link already listed, his natural rankings rise. job done. pointless to keep posting now. cant buy links on high traffic websites like this. jackpot

Didn't know that.
Perhaps you and others should have clickable links in your signatures, I'd always click links if it helped regulars improve their ratings.

Tony Mc did a news write up on 13th June 2012, surely if Tony has endorsed Westminster Stone by writing a full page including links to their web site then what's wrong with someone from Westminster Stone registering as a member and advising forum members and the general public who also use this site that the new phase of their display is now complete with over 100 products in a 400sqm display at the Westminster Stone factory outlet in Shropshire ?
how often do you see Tony Mc use the words like these :-
"Ask anyone who has been in the paving game for more than a decade, and they are bound to name Westminster Stone as one of the best."
not very often I hasten to add

Seems a bit odd that the original post was on the 3rd, now early on the 7th and Westminster Stone has not been on to defend or say sorry.
If i read some of these posts about me, i would be all over it like a rash.
Where are you Westminster?

Westminster Stone have been very helpful behind the scenes of this site for more than a decade. I consider John, the MD, to be a personal friend.
The rules for manufacturers and distributors wanting to post messages to The Brew Cabin are very clear: you declare yourself so we all know that you are 'trade'; you don't do it too often; you put something back into the forum in the way of answering questions.
John does this. So does Simeon from Ronacrete, David S from Marshalls, Steve from Charcon and several others, albeit very occasionally.
You, LAPD, don't seem to mind being able to plug your services in every post, so why should it be any different for a manufacturer/distributor? As long as they comply by the simple rules stated above, they have as much right to post here as anyone else.
If you care to read the Site Ethos you will learn that the reason for running this site is to provide an interchange of information between contractors, customers *and* manufacturers.
This is not an exclusive forum. It is inclusive, and all of the Mods know how the site works. If they see 'spam', they recognise it as such and remove it. If you see 'spam' you report it to me or one of the Mods and we'll deal with it. You don't kick off and start insulting visitors.

I actually met John (MD of Westminister) last week at the SGD conference in London. I found him to be a really good guy. Building a 400m2 display shows real courage and foresight in these economic times, not to mention a masssive commitment to your customers. I think Westminister Stone are well within their rights to post this anouncement on the forum. Good luck to them I say

We will be sticking around to give advice and help where we can. The MD John Clifford (my old man) has been a member of the forum since 2004 but used his own name, not 'Westminster Stone.' As someone stated, we are new to the forum (and yes correctly this account is new) we were just introducing ourselves. We didn't mean to offend anyone, and appreciate all the positive comments in response.

I'm not sure that there's really anything to defend or apologize for, but it's good to see a healthy debate on ethics!
I've been a contributor to the forum since 2004, although have to admit have not kept up so much in recent years. My son Tom has now joined the business, and we decided that he'd learn a lot about the industry, and about the wants, needs and pet hates of contractors by keeping his eye on the Brew Cabin. And if we have the answer to a supply question, then we'd be irresponsible not to make a suggestion. The ultimate aim for Westminster Stone is to improve the service and our range even further, and what better way to do that then to see what you all want. And I'd like to think that we can be of help along the way, having been making the best reproduction flags for almost 30 years, and having one of the widest natural stone offerings. Feel free to email me too - john@westminsterstone.com
All the best, John
