The clue LLL gave is in the ''carefully wash it off.'' You won't be able to seal for a good while yet, weather too bad, need a few weeks of sunshine to dry patio right out.

seanandruby wrote:Callum you need to finish 150 below DPC, allow 100ml dtp1 40ml screed plus whatever thickness slab/block you will use. So about 400 below DPC.

Why 400 wouldn't it be more 300?

150 below allow 100 dto1 40ml screed and the slate
I am allowing for 150 below dpc, a thicker slab/block, 40 ml screed, 100 to 150 dtp1. As i don't know how sound the sub grade is, i went for the higher spec'. Of course you could just use concrete to lay on, or just sand, the choice is yours, we just try and guide you.

Thanks for all the advice I will clean it when it looks like we are getting some nice weather.

I will remove the grass and report back with the sub base to see what you think is best.

Any recommendations what slabs you use of the front instead of slate?

I dont know what the other guys think, but I would suggest blocks, like what injured has done see link:

Injured

Its such a small area you can fit more detail in with blocks i.e slabs are too big.

LLL has some nice photos as well but cant be bothered going through every page to find them.

Would you blocks are easier to lay than slabs?

If you measure the area precisely, and tell us what you want I could draw a small 3d drawing for you, with different materials.
