i use half a bag of dust in every mix,i just adjust the sand content for stronger or weaker mixes
for paving its half a bag of cement 12.5kg ,and 12 shovels of sand, this gives a 3/4 full barrow of wettish mix

All you need is a 5:1 mix and just add water... wet enough so when you squeese it together in your hand it stays in a lump.

which is the best to use as a sub base...Mot 1 or Granite 6mm dust??...is 75mm thick enough for a sub base?

100mm sub base of mot type 1

is there any reason why MOT1 is better than dust?

yes MOT is crushed stone to provide a stable sub-base and is 40mm to dust, its the dust what fills the voids within the larger stones to make it all bind together
the 40mm to dust will contain aggregate what is a maximum size of 40mm down to dust and any size in between
granite what is 6mm to dust is too small a size to give a compact sub base
