If it's just a light hazing, leave it to weathering. Acid washing is likely to damage the stone, as documented on the main website. If it's bad, then insist that your landscaper cleans the surface before you settle up. Let them take the risk!

In all honesty, there shouldn't be any "grey film" at all. It is perfectly possible to point flags without smearing mortar over all of the surface.

The contractor has probably used a dry mix brushing and firming in not my preferred method. Ask him to power wash surface this usually does the trick.

on the dry /wet mix debate ive always used a wet mix, 5 to 1 personally just find it easier to work with. also used the romex sealant on indian stone the other day looks the muts nuts.. put some pics on when i get round to it.
