there was a rumour going round (started by a rival manufacturer) that after 50k the engine crank blows through the side of the engine because nissan " have tried to get too much power out of the engine". but i have heard of no cases where this has happened.
i have the same engine in my new cabstar, so time will tell ???
Clutches go due to excessive use on hills, driving with your foot on the pedal, towing heavy loads, trying to pull out stumps etc.
It will not be a mnufacturer defect.
the sucess of the Navara is such, that it is europes best selling pick-up. that speaks for itself

The older Navara suffered from the engine failure where the rod would poke out of the side of the block.

I have done some research on the navara debacle, and it transpires that in the majority of cases of engine failure , the engine has not been serviced as per nissans spec.
Failure to carry out service intervals means you get no warranty.

dads had navara's last 8 years, d22 no problem with the engine con rod etc, d40 mine and his clutch gone but good trucks.
he's got the king cab in work spec because hes got a few other cars. i've got double cab adventura with all the bits and pieces they are more like cars than my old shape l200 warrior or the work hilux's we've had. if its just to be a tractor work horse i'd get a hilux cheap and indestructible. i do 100 miles a day so need a more car type truck.

L200 - spent 26 quid on spares/repairs in 3 years of ownership, and it's 8 years old now. I do have it serviced by a genuine mechanic (not Mitsubishi but I'd trust him with anything) twice a year, which costs a couple of ton, but in terms of performance and reliability, it's the best 'works van' I've ever had.

That usual means they are fixing a known problem "during" the service. This was a common thing big manufactures to do before you could go anywhere for servicing without effecting your warranty.dig dug dan wrote:I have done some research on the navara debacle, and it transpires that in the majority of cases of engine failure , the engine has not been serviced as per nissans spec.

I was hoping to buy my mates navara when he gets rid, after three years having driven it around town between sites and it never had done a hard days work but i shall have to check the year and what has happened to it now.
