some lads i know did the foot and mouth stuff a few years back, even though it was livestock still shocked them.

We did all the surfacing of the access roads at the local 'pit' for the F&M down on Dartmoor.
It was mental. Never seen anything like it before and probably will never see it again.
It was all money-no-object, just get the facility up and running, as there were piles of carcasses piled up in fields by the roadside.
The burning smell was horrible, lives with you forever.
We were laying 700tons a shift, most of us did double shifts. Lived on Red Bull and bacon baps etc. Crazy times but earnt some good wedge out of it.
