Its all part of the big joke played on us drainmen, they would put in large bolts that would not rust but the trade off was they use a soft metal so that the after a few turns the bloody thing is useless.

Whats the plan when you get the thing up ?

Well, all bolts are out but the thing didnt budge. Now chiseling around the outside to remove the concrete seal. All this manual labour will be the death of me. If and when it comes up, the builder will use it to plumb the washing machine drainage.

Yay, ive got it open without damaging it !!! Just watched my sons bathwater flowing nicely under the fround :) The chamber itself is about three frrt deep and doesnt stink at all. :) Thanks for all your help...

if its a sealed cover how is he going to get the washing machine drain into it, and maintain the seal? and we didn't your builder open the cover for you?

Apparently hes going to come in from the side of the chamber. Hes not coming to fit the kitchen for another week and was going on about it being a big job getting it open and probably would need to be smashed,
