block paving needs to be held in place on all sides so your aco is one side, the house is another, the fence and I cant see what you have on the other side, if you don't restrain the edges over time it will start to break away
so for sides what don't have anything you can either install a variety of edgings or bed the border block paving on concrete and haunch in place using concrete

Would it be logical to remove the gravel board, haunch in the kerbs & then refit the gravel board to the new levels. The fence is mine.

This is my main querey. If I bed the blocks on concrete, I will have 250cm from the dirt to the top of the kerb, so is it OK to have just under that height of concrete?

you can avoid the haunch using a bridging bond instead. neat and tidy, no gap between gravel board either and i would argue maybe stronger than a haunch too

I have just researched the Bridging Bond. Wouldn't I still have to support the edge of the type 1 and the sand, as it's edge at the house end will end 150cm above the neighbours concrete.
