you can pick up a piece of plate for a fiver down your local scrapyard.a little tip with boxes when using expensive grout . take the finished lids out of the frames when grouting.b.t came to our job one day four months after the pavement had been grouted with granatech to check the boxes. couldnt lift the lids out they were solid

I have greased them in the past on private jobs to stop KDS ect getting in gaps and it makes it easier to lift out!

Another question for the same project.
We're thinking of putting recessed lights down too. The size of regular paving blocks - mains wired. Many that i've seen on the web are with LEDs. I don't want lights that are too bright, and LEDs can't be dimmed. Can anyone recommend a supplier or website?

Landscapeplus do a good range of online stuff as for LEDs you'll thank yourself over time if you use them all the other types need constant changing. You can get frosted lenses or lower power ones but garden lights rarely have any real brightness to them it's more about ambience
