On top of the reasonable estimates from Lpad and LLL I would also slap on f*cking you about tax.Sounds like this customer could be a demanding pain in the ass.

I am getting a bit confused now with the pricing. My game is more Tarmac, what would be a normal charge for standard block, I always thought about £50sqm was about right but some posts are going up to £85 -£90sqm. I have worked out that the pavers will cost £2k, so how can you charge £12k for materials and labour, example...Remove 45 ton £600 3 x 17ton grab....type one 25 ton £350...Separation fabric £100.....Grit sand 14 ton £600....KDS £40......Can't charge the guy 8k labour for 7 or 8 days work.........or have a got this wrong

You will need 65T of type 1, not 25. Tool hire, or wear and tear on your own tools. Then factor in your business running costs, insurance, advertising, rent, fuel, phones, tax, training costs, HSE expenses, pension plan, slap on +15% profit for business and you will arrive at a figure much closer to £70-100. You have to account for bad weather too and if you get injured and can't work.
You are in business to make a living and make a profit, not to slave away working 12+ hours a day 6 or 7 days a week for below minimum wage.
You're either underestimating how much work this job is or if you will have a few guys working on it in which case you are losing money pricing it at £40.

fabric more like £300,
i make it nearer 100 tonnes to come out ,thats 7 grabs at £200 each, 20 bags of kds @£4 a bag = 80 quid
believe me lou if you go in @£41 you will be working for nothing
the spec you gave will cost £55 per metre cost ,then profit on that
there was a fella on here a while back doing drive for £50 a metre ,he has gone bust

sorry £9840 plus drainage and labour for iyt . i.e 60 pound a metre all in for paving

160 m is a decent size area
i reckon you could do it with drainage for around £75 per metre plus vat
couple of weeks work there for 3 men and a machine
middle of summer you might crack it in a week but not at the moment

£1600 for pavers with vat is 2k, grab takes 17 ton for £200 I don't feel its 100 ton myself as part of the 164 sqm is paths so don't need to go down as much. Fabric I can get for £60 a roll, I do understand how much work is to be done as been paving all his paths and have done enough paving to know what the crack is. Can someone just tell me why I see paving advertised for 50sqm.

One of a few possible reasons:
1. Desperate for work and will do anything to keep ticking over.
2. Substandard work or materials
3. Quoting for 1 thing and doing another
4. Cheap quote then when they get there they suck in the breath and go oooooh your ground isn't the right type of clay, going to cost you a lot more than we thought.
5. Useless businessmen who have no idea what their monthly outgoings are and how much they need to pull in to survive / earn a reasonable living.
I've lost plenty of work to people doing it significantly cheaper, I give them my card tell them a list of things to look out for and tell them to call me if / when it all goes wrong.

if you do it for £41 you will hate yourself
no one proper does it for 50s even the pikeys charge more than that and they do not put down 200mm of type 1
25mm of stone over that area can soon add up to another 10 tonnes
if you have a good working relationship maybe offer to do it for a decent day rate just to see how it goes
also you mentioned paths,paths although less area are a pain as you have loads of cutting

Yea £75.00 per metre including drainage here, getting up near £90.00 for tegs etc
I would go a bit cheaper if work was slack, but no where near 41 quid!

Sorry but I can't justify £12k, I know what you guys are saying, and I respect you all as this is a great site. Thanks for your time as off to see my client and give him the news. I have told him to get another quote so he can see how cheap I am. I recon I will have it dug and drainage in within 3 days, day to stone it up which gives me 4 days to crack on with the laying. Cant see it taking weeks
