ballast is a mixture of 4 parts gravel 2 parts sand
the proper way is to have grit sand and shingle ,but ballast gets dug out of the ground round these parts as it is
Ps 1 bulk bag of ballast would need about 6 25kg bags of cement to achieve 10 gauges of concrete
