Best thing is to get quotes for what you want to have done, then choose which one you want to go with based on your criteria, which in this case is price.
by all means give them the spec, but this puts most genuine contractors off.
if you go in telling them what to charge, no one will touch it. Thats just how it is.

£100 per ton, why so dear on mainland? Its £65 in Northern Ireland and €75 in Ireland delivered within 10 mile radius

Its the mainland and the plants have set their prices, their owned by multi national company's and the cost is the cost.

1 tonne has been over £100 for 2 years in luton
I think a single tonne might be £120 now but I dont go near it now due to cost
the pikeys dont even do tarmaccing now as even to lay it 20mm thick costs them a bomb

Try Middleton Surfacing google it.
They do all my jobs in and around Manchester.
Not cheap at all but never ever had any issues with quality of the jobs.

Otherwise look out for bodgit & scarper Ltd they are also on google !!

I get 20 ton loads delivered within approx 10-15mile rads for €75, rates are less than in your yard across the river !!

When my dad started he was getting it for £3t!
