Glad we are able to get our 24 tonne down today, just before the snow came back with a vengeance.

Had to clear this courtyard today, all by hand. Prepping it for a marquee on it tomorrow, ready for a graduation ceremony.
Had another 60 tons of grit delivered today. Got a priority load in front of a council... Not what you know, Who you know...
Had the apprentice come down to the courtyard in the tractor with front rotary brush to help out.
5 minutes after starting...
Our snowplough. Works like a dream, except on the numerous non visible junctions, where it takes a deep breath and crossed fingers to get out.
9 feet from the middle of the front wheel to leading edge of the plow...

Been about 2-3 inches of snow up here for past few days. Minus 3 had been the lowest temp.
Our current 2 jobs, we have been able to excavate and hardcore. Then we cover the whole area overnight with 2 layers of Hessian. In the morning our hardcore is not frozen. Unlike the rest of the area Then we laid all kerbs on RMC with a frostproofer in it and again covered over with hessian overnight as well as covering the hardcore. Today we laid 40m2 of block paving, sanded and wackered. We had to dry some of the blocks with a burner and gas bottle, but managed to finish.
Its a bit of a pain coverning everything with hessian and then removing it in morning, but it means that we can crack on.
With regard to snow. I find it helps as it insulates and stops the ground underneath from freezing too much
I suppose we have had it ok up here in Cumbria. Especially compared to all those southern softies
