Not just his kids we've all paid for....couldn't help but notice on the pictures of floral tributes that he'd got some nice new arch topped closeboard fencing.

He is a stupid man who has done a stupid, stupid thing. I would have had a scrap of sympathy with him if he had held his hands up and faced the consequences of his actions like a man. It absolutely apppals me that he's lied and lied to try and save his OWN skin after being responsible for the death of six of his children. #Disgusted

he probably fits the desciption of a pschopath in that he thinks only of himself and has no empathy for others
he will probably try and brazen it out in the GP but in quick time will be put on the numbers

Think the judge did the best she could with the law as it stands, its all she could do with a manslaughter charge.
The other two will do less than 8 years, = 16 months per child
Shocking

Thing is he didn't set out to kill the children. The business with his ex leaving was compounded by the council not getting a shift on rehousing the idiot.
He had his 'shag pad' of a caravan in the front garden, that along with 3 adults and 6 of 14 kids staying at the home. This reeks of inaction by the local authority.
Along with the publicity shone on him by the TV shows which courted him, in his demented mind it must have made sense to carry this out and get a new home. But I feel much of what is put forward by the press is divisive and is shining a very dangerous light on proceedings. He didn't go out to murder them in cold blood, as wrong as what he did was, I don't like the spin that's being put on it. Events like these seem to turn on the 'baying moron' switch in newsprint. Sells papers, moralises on what was and is, whilst the Murdocks are laughing in their sleeves as we all line up to point the finger at some idiotic twat, when much of the blame could be placed with authority and 'sensationalism'

a thoughtful and well presented argument dean
but give me 5 minutes "a la sean" with mick thick philpott and prison would be the least of his worries
we were talking in the pub tonight and apparently there are less than200 families in the uk on benefits with more than 5 kids
however why should we pay for people to smoke weed all day and shag all night is beyond me ???
they should use the dutch system where your benefit goes down the more kids you have
its not penalising the poor
it is penalising the stupid
I have been poor for 3 years in my life but I turned it round through back breaking graft
choices are there its up to folk to take them

True Tony, but it makes the case for all families on benefits to be seen as a 'Philpott'. You can imagine whats going throught the head of a guy with 5+ kids on benefits who has lost his job because Camagoon has closed his place of work of 20 years. Im yet to see a family on benefits to be shown in a positive light by the media. Don't forget. much of the benefit claimants are actually working. 40 hours on minimum wage with kids will attract benefit payout, so much of the hardest workers (low pay/long hours/shitty job) are claimants.
This tosser took the rise ,royally, but with Osborne jumping on the back of it to ignite a political debate really gets my hackles up.
The guy was a fool, but the death of his family is becoming a political point scoring exercise and the shortcomings of some who should know better are not being looked into as the buck has firmly been placed with Philpott. Negating any culpability by the media or the local authority.
Sorry, my p*** is boiling about now.
