Transit connect through the week:rock:
My rule of thumb is don't turn up to a job with a better car than the client.

Well if you've got that at your disposal, it's a forgone conclusion! SWB Shogun.

if a woman isnt impressed by a works vehicle she aint worth taking out :;):
i like to take the cabstar everywhere and find it bullet proof mechanically
loads of old ones around which tells its own story
one of our chipies had a navarra much like yours dan,he got shot after 18months and bought a brand new transit for 10k and has had no problems so far
TBh i drove 3 transits over 10 years and i had no issues either
what you need is a vehicle that suits your work
not your social life

why not an L200 i had a warrior before my navara, was a good workhorse but not as nice to drive use as a car as the navara, but better off road and on site, my navara 102k now 80k with me has been ok minus a clutch, but dragging 4 ton around will do that. my dad has the king cab SE i have the Aventura and love it getting 32.5 mpg. id like a newer one as its getting a bit noisy with a few rattles and creaks, they dont like having 1 ton bags or buckets off 16 tonners on them lol,
i do 550 miles a week in mine and be lost without it, and my boy loves it and can get the dog in the back with the bench seat folded up and still have my boy in the back.
i ran a golf gt tdi for a while when mainly working for my dad but was a pain trying to keep it clean and having to drive to yard and run cabstar in the day, being 30 now grown out of the need to go as fast i can.
dave double cab isnt teh best for getting it on lol, transit with a mattress in the back good old days of being 17 lol

I'm looking in to getting something similar to king cab, maybe smaller but run on lpg. Would be ideal for doing my gas deliveries around town. I

Transit tipper, mk6, 2500 quid, economical, put your machines on the back or tow, buy sand loose and tip it where you like, never go wrong and when it does peanuts to repair, with the change e55 amg merc. Jobs a good un, car is 400bhp.
No brainer to me, but i do loves me transits bruvver

Transit T280, 02 plate, nice and clean, medium roof and quality liveridge. We run an old LDV crew cab tipper, which is on it's last legs, but it's just a work horse, and I just use the wife's car if I want to go anywhere and look nice. I have been thinking about a more family friendly vehicle, but Pickups are no good, can't leave the tools on the back, have nowhere to store a trailer easily, so I was thinking of something along the lines of a VW Transporter crew-cab or even a transit version(we go camping a lot), but the wife is changing her car soon, so we may just get a tow bar fitted to that, and buy a small trailer.
If money was no problem, then I'd like a big old American Pick up, vintage, and Hill billy style, or failing that a brand new VW camper, with all the gadgets, but as for cars, no, not really onto them.

I have a pop up top on my navara, keep all my tools and shizzle in there albeit only hand tools and shovels etc, thought about getting a truck man back now though as getting pretty serious with the new mrs and her springer spaniel finds mud like an Exocet then leaves it all over my truck which is filthy but I've got some standards lol

No but im saving, im only looking at the e class model, an old one, maybe a 52 plate, they only cost about 3-4k for a nice one. But you are right about insurance which is where traders policy comes in to play :;):

Giles, im not keen on the L200's, lots go wrong on them, and they are not as planted as the navara. The swb shogun is an awesome tool, will out tow anything ive ever driven, plus with the auto box, they are a dream, just the cost for a new one its over 25k 1-2 years old, 15-20k!
LLL - your point about the vehicle needs to suit your work and not your social life....well mine needs to suit both, i dont really want to run two cars, but i have thought about running a t330 swb low roof transit and an audi rs5 how to justify the expense? lol, the latter is probably what im going to have to do, sign a cheque for a van and hp a passion wagon
