I dont quote until ive spoken to client, tell them what my view is and then price, at least then my foot is in the door and ive made an impression. I dont quote via the site. I also have strted warning people that i price to do the work to my own spec which i guaruntee for ten years. Rather than to do it cheap to get the job. Pay cheap, pay twice in my mind. I may be 300 more but im doing it as well as it can be done (often over engineered, is a downfall of my own)

i didnt quote through the site neither, but still, times are hard and most people dont know the difference between a good job and bad one, so if they can save £500.00 for what in there eyes is the same thing, alot of the time they will, i must of done 1000 miles last month looking at jobs all over the northwest that came through my builder, not got a single one...thought i did, but its just full of time wasters.

I only accept work within a 10 mile radius. Even had a few request a quote which was flattering

sad thing is ppl buy on price not quality and end up on here asking why there drive/patio etc is problem filled
ive just done two days helping a mate out hows working for a "builder" just been biting my tongue, but chatting to the labourers 1 a kirdish guy on £30 a day and an english guy on £50, this guys card covers everything from groundworks block paving groundworks etc, tree clearing, etc labourer saying about spot bedding slabs and laying block over asphalt drives etc, has 4 polish guys on £35 a day that are his groundworkers!! hopefully i'll never have to compete with the likes of them as you cant on price.

ive had 3 requested LPAD, make's no difference, im going to try and get away from the small private jobs as they just dont pay, not when your forced to cut rates to compete

Dan, hold your ground, no discounting, have faith in your work and let potential clients know that it will be done to spec. Many have had fingers burnt and will know better than to take the cheapest price
