That happens a lot over here Tony and is usually because they just lay the block ontop of the old driveway proper looky likey trick.

I always do SUDS as i feel its my reputation at stake if i dont,
also did you notice the 450 slabs as pier caps?
I have spotted 6 drives in the last 2 months all without SUDS,but the BCO told me they will be enforced in due course

Always install drainage to stop runoff onto the footpath. It's a time bomb.....

We do suds on all driveways too. If it ever comes up for planning at least we are within the parameters that are required

Yes Dave, of course, i explain to them what its all about, and the usual response is well 'mr smith driveways' never mentioned this? So i just say well ill give you two quotes on with and one without and you decide, they always go without.
Im not losing work because of it, that would be just daft, if they dont want SUDS the im quite happy to do what they ask.

Like you I always detail the drainage separately - otherwise I'd be pricing myself out of the job if Joe Smith down the road wasn't including it in his lump sum price.
Makes us guys who are doing it properly look as though we're ripping people off......when we're not.

I know Dave its a pain, on the subject of "my builder" ive had a laughable request to beat a quote for a job, get this -
55m indian stone paving with circle kit, including all excavation and prep work
Clear the site before hand of crap and demolish a small out building.
re-build and replace manholes and clay drainage runs.
raised patio with dwarf retaining wall and steps.
Concrete post and panel fencing round the lot
re-build and re-render a wall 6ft by 15 ft
Some complete nugget has quoted £2800.00 for all this - i have declined to quote....lol

2800? Hahahahaha i wouldnt be able to resist telling that guy that he is either trying it on is about to get ripped off, materials and muck away will be almost that much

Reverse the transit in to the building to demolish it. Leave the rubble there as hardcore. Go steal a load of sandstone from somewhere. Pay for 1 load of concrete to make it look like you're legit, dump concrete on top of rubble, reverse up to rubble and tip sandstone on.
Steal a few tools from their shed and a few manhole covers before you leave to cover the concrete you had to buy.
Job well done.
Could easily do it for under £2800 :laugh:

LLL- i said that it would be nearer 10k, i said it will be a wasted journey on my part so go with the guy that quoted £2800.00, im keen but not that keen
