LLL, we wouldnt be able to do what we do using pallet lines. My business partner who handles the stone masonry department wont send anything bespoke on pallet lines unless it is absolutely necessary (i.e anything more than a couple of hours away). the amount of stuff that gets broken or mislaid by the pallet lines is quite remarkable. The problem is that the staff at every stage of the pallet line chain dont give a monkeys about getting your stuff delivered in one piece, or even if it gets delivered at all

we had a load of flint blocks delivered to a job
£10 a block
when the 200 blocks arrived 34 were broken
thats a lot of wasted money
luckily the supplier replaced them but it was all down to poor handling

my mate works for a courier, think explosive and he`s told me numerous times don`t send anything expensive/fragile there way as the minimum wage handlers couldn't care less. ???

That was the plan Rab. Its turned out to be a massive let down. We found out today that both cranes have got factory faults and have got to go to Atlas headquarters in Scotland to get repaired. One of the trucks is on the way up as we speak and the second truck will go when the first one returns.

Atlas are paying to get the cranes north of the border. We've not discussed the downtime yet. There's probably some small print in the contracts somewhere but will see what Atlas say about it
