I always think of that black and white footage of a tommy carrying his mate across his shoulders through the trenches
i went on remembrance Sunday last year to luton town centre and it was a very sombre affair, which it should be
I think what pablo is getting at and I agree is the abuse of the poppy by celebs
just wear the same small one that everyone else wears, trying to turn it into a fashion statement devalues it IMHO

Neither do I, it encompasses all conflict, Afghan, Iraq, Gaza.
Im not on about the ethics, Im on about the nuts and bolts bits, the detritus, the broken homes, the fall out ,if you like.
Once a kids without his dad, or a young bloke comes home a quadriplegic, it cant be undone. I just hope I can make sure Im doing the little I can to help.
Im not against celebs wearing poppies either, it raises the profile and helps spread the word. I hope everyone doesnt fall into the 'Im above this ' trap. If that happens, we might as well cancel the 11th

Whatever. But when you are at a memorial and watch the old soldiers wearing their poppy's along with their medals it fills me with a sense of pride. When, after the silence, the bugler plays the last post, that's the big hit, the lump in the throat and a tear in the eye. In to Witherspoons and lift a glass to the fallen. Wear your poppy with pride, or if you don't wear one then just be proud . :)

A Poppy Seller told us that the RBL commissioned a trendy version, to get the kids involved, and they were all bought up at cost by some dealer, and they're all now being sold for a load on-line, none of whcih is being given back to the RBL. If that's true then it shows how, like most of our traditions/customs, they all get Hi-jacked by W@%#ers.

ive googled this extensively and cant find anything, if they were and i doubt they would as its not changed in years then there would have been some press on it etc and the legion would not sell all to one company typically propaganda bullshit about the state of this country...

go backa nd challenge him for facts as he was talking bollocks...

Setts I took no offence. Just to clarify I don't wear a poppy not because I feel I'm above it the reason is that I wear work clothes 5 1/2 days of the week and they never last more than an hour and a tatty one is bad form. I live in the sticks so rarely do I wear smart clothes thats the only reason although I got one today for my blazer to go stand with the legion tommorrow which I've not done before and I'm looking forward to it ( and maybe some ale and warstories afterwards with the oldboys).

GB Groundworks, calm down, just relating what I was told, maybe he heard it from someone who heard it from someone, I don't know! But it wouldn't suprise me to hear it. As for the state of this country, it isn't that great at the moment, and my comment about some people being W@#*kers is my own opinion, not Propoganda bullshit, thanks.
