It'd only be warm on the plate of the paver Giles, certainly not up on top! That's a most miserable place to be I'll tell ya.
Pasties wrapped in foil on the bed is the best thing though, you should see the look on customers faces when I jump down and grab a hot pasty etc!
Can't lay any coated materials in freezing conditions, tack coat will freeze/won't flash off. Plus the material will cool off very quickly in these temperatures, the roller driver would have to work at 150mph!

saw on axe men the yarder driver (big crane that pulls the logs on a cable line, like a mobile cable car)
he put some salmon wrapped in foil in the engine bay on teh exhaust manifold, 20 minutes later he was eating it haha
seen the video of the tank lads in the 2nd world war in north africa cooking eggs on the top of their tanks haha

Dave when the weather sorts itself out you must be expecting a bumper few weeks. The roads over here have been destroyed by the frost causing potholes everywhere. The one going by my house has completely delaminated for the guts of a 1000m. God knows how the local authorities are going to afford to sort it all out. Giles you must singlehandedly be responsible for keeping You tube afloat.

Last year, we were clearing woodland by the old sewerage works, miles down a track, and miles from the mess room.
Had 3 lads felling and logging, and a couple more of us dragging the stuff to a clearing, where we burnt it.
Put a sackful of taters in, so had a hot lunch as well.

I seem to recall from when I was writing the NVQ stuff for modular paving that there is a NVQ for grave diggery and without the NVQ, you can't be a-digging.
Part of what I was writing was found to overlap with the cemetery and crematorium NVQ....the bit about backfilling!

NVQ for grave digging, who would have thought! but i suppose when you think about it, its no different than digging a hole in the road. but anyway the rate in my vilage in south cheshire is £160 a grave and backfill. 6 foot down for new grave and less if there is 1 or 2 already down there. i didnt think that rate was bad.
