Just read this little project and wanted to say congratulations 'Heed' on doing a great job.

You've put a lot of time and effort in there and it shows - the results are excellent.

This is a great example of how good the website and the forum is - some very helpful and knowledgeable folks on here giving advice without making us feel like idiots for asking.

I have to replace my knackered old patio and have learnt a lot looking at this project.

Cheers Gents. It was certainly hard graft but it's now all worth it. The laying pattern was meant to suggest a line from the patio door to the shed door to the eye. It seemed like a good idea at the time. It looks better in real life than it does from the angle I took the photos but it doesn't look great to be honest. However the patio is down and very solid. I'm happy with it and the missus loves it. I know I keep saying it but thanks again fellas. Much appreciated. I wish I could hang about and offer advice but I don't feel qualified! I'll certainly keep an eye on the forum though. It's pretty good to see what I could do with zero knowledge and some great advice.

Also for anyone trying this, try and find a mate to help who works for beer money but doesn't drink like Ollie Reed. It's not so much the cost as the lifting and barrowing with a hangover that kills you!
