i think i may have used a square cover there
those tight circular covers are a fail to cut neatly around
but its still a nice job

The cover is the way I requested it, easier to find on a cold wet winters night :p

"i wish all my customers were like this, the guy knows exactly what he wants and is a pleasure to work for"

or

"this b'stard is all over us like a rash, i can't wait till this fooker is done"

I really don't care what he's saying, he gave me a price for doing a specific job to a certain standard, all I'm doing is checking that he is doing just that.

The standard was after all....set by this forum. :p :p :p

Thanks you for setting the standard guys :D :D

Glad that you decided to do the job by a standard and not by a prce as most people seem to be choosing these days.

the job is looking excellent.

:) :)

but the most important thing is how good are your brewing skills, a good brew and maybe some biscuits and a bit of banter goes a long way to getting a real good job. people that watch from the window beware haha go say hi to your workmen you'll get more out of them.

i dont mind taking a flask but its always nice to be offered a cupper, this is the brew cabin after all

Most of the gang are young pups who like fizzy drinks so the freezer is stocked every day, the tea jenny's along with myself enjoy a nice strong brew with cake and biscuits as we discuss the progress.

With a bit of luck we might be finished the block to the rear garden by tomorrow. Today one of the chaps never managed into his work so with a man down the rest of the lads got stuck in and started working out towards the pavement up the big driveway. There is a bit of pipework to be done at the other side of the gate and another aqua channel to be installed.

did you get an answer off the owner on why the geotextile layer is on top of the MOT ?

you have gone to a lot of time and effort and yet your happy to spoil the job for the sake of a few pence more

I had this cover specially made to 320 x 320 to suit 2 rows of tegula blocks, could of bought one for half the money at 300 x 300 but did not want a 20mm strip along one side especially seeing as its right facing the front door

Image

this is a 150mm rodding eye what i positioned within the buff border so everything line through then cut the paving to the shape of the cover

Image

looks a lot neater than having cement pointing, if I can cut around a 150mm circular rodding eye I am sure your guys can cut neatly round a 300mm cover, if not change it to a square manhole cover

Very neat mickg, that is a first class job. I take your point regarding the cover, the money isn't the issue, and if it was at the front door I would go down that route, but this is a back yard that in a few months will be covered in oil drips, grease etc.

I asked about the geotextile on top of the MOT and was told that this was the way he always does it, even on his largest projects  so I thought best not to question it again.

The night watchman was hiding when I took the picture tonight, here's one I've just taken a couple of minutes ago.
