Thanks for the replies and yeah i never thought of pointing unless i used a dry mix and brushed it into the gaps.
Bodgeit.....thanks again for your time in the photo any chance you can do block paving on the right hand side in brindle or autum gold so i can see how that looks keeping the Dark grey border.

Hey bodgeitandscarper thankyou again my dear friend for your time and patients throughout my thread and GB_Groundworks tell me about it my friend put a computer in front of me any day as this block laying lark is bloody hard work at times but i'm sure the end result will be worth it when i step back and look at what i have acheived just through a little research and hard work.
I was hoping to order my blocks and flags tomorrow and i quite like the look of the red ones with the grey border.
I have defo decided for the 450x450 flags for the patio area but any last input on the pathway will be more than welcome.

Hi and it is late and i can not get my head around some figures here so i will ask how many 600x600 flags do i need and how many 600x300 glags do i need to complete the job.
I have included a block pave border going all round the outer edge with a 150mmx600mm flag and then a 200mm block paver.
The distance i have between wall to wall at the top end is 1730mm
150mm flag...> 100mm block paver....>300mm flag....> 600mm Flag....>300mm flag......100mm block paver then against the wall a 150mm flag total 1700mm leaving 30mm for the gaps between the flags for the pointing in.
Bedding layer
Flagstones can be bedded directly onto either:
A/ a coarse, grit sand bed, approximately 40mm thick
B/ a cement bound bed approximately 20-40mm thick
I plan on bedding the flags on A would this be sufficient.
PS:Sorry for the low quality pics via paint but at least you will get to see what i mean.

you usually get what you pay for with blades and indian stone is quite hard ???

i use obas 300mm blades with water and they go through injun stone no bother at all
think we get 20 for £200

Seems 180mm blades are little more difficult to come by.
Anyone heard of Black Diamond blades?

for that price i would buy 2, £20 for 2 blades delivered ,for a one off job i would not spend 60 quid on a top notch blade,you have nothing to lose "injun sandstone" is easy to cut anyway not very hard
