Cheers lads. This one has a Honda engine and as Tony's said looks ok for the money. If it only lasts a year it's paid for itself.
Lemoncurd, the last couple of months have been ok and the next couple of months look like they're going to be but I'm not rolling in it lol.
Most of the money I have spare will be tied up in materials for the next couple of jobs which is why I'm looking at cheap new or branded 2nd hand. I just haven't got a grand for a wacker.
I've never got to technical with wackers. I'll use a heavy diesel for 80's or a med size petrol for 50's.
I've got till Monday to ponder.

Anyone ever seen or used one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm....0646092
Look's like it might come in handy for compacting soft spots in the screed or floating concrete.
Also looks like one of hose tools that only ever get's used once

Anyone heard of Evopower wackers? They use a loncin engine which is one that I am unfamiliar with.
Like most of you I've only ever used branded wackers.
There are a few on this site, they look quite well constructed and come with a 2 year warranty http://thepowersite.co.uk/catalogsearch ... ctor+plate

so why are you messing about looking at unbranded vibrating plates then ?
ask yourself this :-
1: what brand names have I used so far - choose one maybe the prettiest colour ???
2: was it any good
3: did it do the job
4: does it fit into my budget
BUY IT
the worse case is if you pay another £100 more it will take a couple of months longer to get your money back if your hiring at the moment - its a no brainer
its that simple

I've used all of the branded names mick. God knows how many. The reason I'm looking at unbranded wackers is because I've only got about £500 to spend on one.
I'd buy a second hand branded one if I could find a decent one.
At this point in time I've got an old Pug expert, borrowed mixer, my own new disk cutter and breaker. I'm doing it all on a shoe string basically but then I'm just starting out. The main thing is that I do a good job.
One of these unbranded wackers might be a good one. I honestly don't know because I've always been spoiled as far as having the best kit provided for me is concerned.
I hate hiring kit, I like having a wacker in the van as and when I need it.
I just need something to get me by for now. Who know this time next year I might be a millionaire or at least have a nice photo in a Marshalls brochure, Until then I've got to make do
