I have put a few posts in over the years, and they soon rot. How do you chaps recon is the best way to give gate posts/fence post etc the best chance of a long life?

I have seen a product that is like a bitumen wrap being sold that you place half in the ground and half above(or something like that) how about using some kind of bitumen paint on the post before putting it in?

How do you do yours?

I too am becoming more and more concerned about timber posts. I have been looking into post savers which is what your refering too and they seem like a good idea.

I too prefer to use concrete but on occasions when it doesn't suit i'm going to start using post savers i think.

i try not to use concrete for wooden posts and they to last years 10+ anyway. thats at home though, trouble is on jobs you want to use postcrete/concrete etc because you need to get on.
