Flexible paving - Joint width/point contact

Hi all i'm studying differant types of paving as part of my horticulture certificate i need to find some information that he has given me,i bought myself a paving book but it dosent give me the answers that i need,what i need to find out is,what is the recommened joint width for flexible paving and what problems are created through point contact between adjacent pavers("butt jointing)hope some one can help thanks
