Hi All,
We are about to get a new double drive and we are trying to save as much money as possible so I am going to dig out the existing drive which at present is half concrete with rebar and the other is a slight hill with "dodgy" tarmac.
The brick that will be laid down by the tradesman will be Monksbridge Driveway kit x 5 (her choice), so I was wondering how deep I have to dig from the pavement level.
Also as the drive is approx 40sq, how much material would i need (sand, type 1 etc)
For info the driveway will not be beside the damp proof course of the house.
Any advice really appreciated and thanks in advance
Lee

Depends on spec your tradesmen has given you, but you should be digging down 225-240mm below finished height of drive.
50mm for block, 25-40mm for bedding layer, 150mm for sub base.
