I used to get told off by my supplier for hanging a gate like that tony, thye reckon the corner brace should go from the hinge corner, otherwise its upside down?

I asked 3 people and no one could give me a straight answer

the top and bottom stiles are identical so I did it that way

the latch is at the top to stop the little horr--- kids getting out before i get spotted on that too

you didn't ask me

the correct way as I was taught at college is both the braces going up from the hinge side towards the top of the gate, the strongest shape you can make is a triangle which means the gate can't drop if the brace fits tight into the shape of the frame but theses days anything goes and I have seen gates in the large sheds pre braced and nailed looking like yours Tony

at least one of the braces will stop the gate from dropping down due to the weight

mick the gate i just bought like that,a chippie, a plumber and butterfields couldnt tell me so i did what I thought best
it opens shuts and locks so the client is happy

If you had cut every other paving in half it would have continued the half bond continuity you have done on the patio. Neat job though as always.

yes i knew that from the start but the client wanted everything as big as poss
thats why i didnt cut the flag in half on the IC cover

if they pay me I will lay them upside down or sideways too :;):

I think alternate slabs cut would look a mess on a single slab path and why go through all that needless cutting and pointing?

All good work everyone, and size doesn't matter as they say it's the quality that counts and making a buck.

Sometimes the smaller jobs are the best anyway, in, out and paid.

Whats the easiest way to add images to a post, preferably from the hard drive?
Photobucket is a pain.

Totally agree! The smaller jobs are better, the big ones that have large amounts of material etc aren't so good......

I find Photobucket fine!
