Rainwater soakaway - leaves, moss, dirt, etc

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

I'm about to install two attenuation cell sets to cope with roof run-off - it's an old cottage without main drainage. There may have been 'hole-in-the-ground' type soakaways on either side of the house at some point but they aren't functioning now.

Is it necessary to include some filtering system to prevent leaves, moss, grit, etc. getting into the cells, and if so how is this implemented ?

Thanks
Rob

Be a good idea place a grid or mesh where the down pipe connects to the gutter or a new product I see called hedgehog gutter looks good.

Also if your down pipe falls to a trapped gulley before dispersal to the cells, this should collect any silt which can be scooped or sucked out.
Don't use a drinking straw though, yuk :D

always use a bottle gulley as the last connection to a soakaway if possible as it acts as a silt trap and is easily cleaned.

Many thanks for that - I see that Floplast do something which looks like the right item.
