Just driving through Newry in Northern ireland a few days ago and they were laying granite footpaths along the river. They had a very fast jointing technique which consisted of mixing up larsen fjm grout (similar to flowpoint) and then just brushing any excess into the river.
Guess where the washings went went it was time to hose it off??
Wish i'd had my camera.
Handy jointing techniques.

I was watching a rival jointing project in Derry a week or so back, and I swear I saw the mortar supplier drooling as the lads brushing it in were blithely sweeping the expensive product over the edges onto the roadway, into linear channels, filling a 150mm wide gap at the back of the pavement, and into every road gully available.
I reckon they were just wasting around 15-20% of every batch, not to mention the risk to drainage systems.
I did watch a project in that London where all the wash-off water had to be bunded and then passed through a series of filters before being allowed into the SW system. Very effective and very environmentally conscious but the contractor reckoned it was adding 90p/m² to his jointing costs.

There was a big larsen silo at the end of the run which was probably there bedding gear i imagine.
I am happy to see them appearing to do well as their products seem really good and they have a great range of more specialist products like technical mortars etc.
They also are very well priced especially if you buy direct which i hope they continue to allow.
