As long as you have sufficient depth for your build-up, then you have a free-of-charge soakaway as provided by Mother Earth!

You could squeeze in one of those 150mm deep 'Permavoid' crates just to give guaranteed storage/attenuation, if you wanted to be doubly sure.

thanks - would it be any use to join on a further section of 110mm to outlet, perforated with slits, to disperse water across top of soakaway area rather than let in all fall into one spot? and should I put down geotex to separate shale level from other sub/top soil.

Yes put in a seperation membrane ,Terren. also use rigid pipe to your storm crate, as has been stated 'you have a free soakaway' so take advantage of it.

thank you - after thinking thing through a bit more I realised that if I did what Tony suggested and put in permavoid unit(s) I would have dispersal/infiltration sorted - trying to find out price/supplier.

I was speaking with the current Mr Permavoid at EcoBuild on Thursday - due to the continual game of Musical Jobs at Agg Industries, he may have been moved to another role by now, but he was definitely in charge of it all on Thursday - and they are allegedly making a big push with Permavoid via their preferred Builders' Merchants, which I think is Keyline and Burdens.
