Nice work tony, do you do your own rendering? And I've never seen the plastic edging before on the gable end, do they just screw into the tile lath like the dry verge.

I can do little bits < 5 m otherwise the plasterers do it
they did both coats at 5:1:1 sand: cement: lime with a litre of waterproofer in every mix

the whole roof is dry there
ridge ,verge, and valley
I am not over keen on the look of it but it means no hold up in the wet/cold weather
cheers LLL

do think 2 foot of ivy on top of the wall might have helped the wind's work?

it certainly was mick
we built 2 extensions on the house 12 and 15 years ago and i told him then to cut the ivy down
but he wouldnt listen
also walls adjacent to a footpath legally are only supposed to be 750mm without planning
but you know what people are like
I have refused to rebuild it in 4 inch
IMHO a fence with concrete posts and concrete gravel boards would be a better job

Those bloody screen blocks didn't help either. I swear those things are deadly, there is such awful suction between them combined with tight joints that make them so unstable.

I have a client that leant on hers and 6 courses of them about 6ft high just flopped over. god help any children that play around them.

in places where the ivy had gone through the deco blocks it was an inch thick
the job we did last year with 13 inch piers and hit and miss fence panels worked much better
you cannot beat the wind

our remit was to make safe and clear the footpath ASAP

and that was exactly what we did

sometimes as we all know you have to make it happen
