I am a landscape gardener and have been asked to lay a resin bound path/drive. I have seen some examples of this and I am confused as to the difference between UV stable/non UV stable and the guarantees that are on offer. I have laid screeds and epoxy screeds in the past. Can any one let me know more about these sytems.

It's not easy to get either bonded or bound looking just right unless you've done it before. It can be an unforgiving medium and very easy to balls-up.
If you're not experienced, I'd suggest talking to Star Uretech. They have a good support dept who would be able to talk you through the maze of choices and ensure you get the substrate right.

The choice between resin bound and resin bonded is really down to personal preference. We supply both systems and it comes down to what you want from it. In my opinion resin bound is the nicer on the eye but both are still highly decorative.
The resin bound system is fully permeable and will leave you with a flat surface finish as it is a trowelled application. The fines in the our mix blends provide a slip resistance surface.
The resin bonded system is what we describe as a scatter system. a thin layer of resin is rolled out and then the aggregate is broadcast over the top. The result is a decorative surface with very good slip resistance.
When it comes to driveways we would recommend resin bound. This is because it has more flexibility and because it is flat, aggregates dont get picked out when vehicles turn on it, which is likely to happen over time with the resin bonded. Also due to the rigidity of the resin bonded system we advise it is applied on to concrete/screed to ensure you maximize its life span. If tarmac moves too much it can cause the resin to crack and then lift.
We would class both products as specialist and as neither of them are cheap systems we would always recommend that they are installed by experienced contractors.
With regards to the UV vs Non UV resin the main difference is the UV stable resin will not discolour upon exposure to UV light. The Non-UV resin will yellow and really ruin the look of the surface. There are obviously cost differences between the 2 but you get what you pay for.
