I am in the process of building a retaining wall which will be 10m long by 1.2m high. I am planning on using concrete block.

What specification for the block would you recommend?
Can I get away with a single wall or will it have to be a double?

Thanks
:)

I would use 200/225mm wide dense CMUs. A single skin of 100mm width would not be anywhere near strong enough to act as a retainer for that height.

Have you considered using one of the anchored block systems, such as Secura from Tobermore? You get a much better looking wall with none of the hassle of having to mix a mortar.
