/indian sandstone/hardcore base - Is a hardcore base needed.?

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Hello , I'm having some Indian sandstone laid , the builder says that there is no need for hardcore he s laying it on cement is this going to be ok. . .? It's for the back /patio area of a terraced house . :O ??? ???

Depends on if there is a sub base or not and the quality of the ground but I would put my money on him being wrong and a cowboy

unless you live on rock or chalk a subbase is necessary
