Which way to slope - Levels and the dpc to

What a fantastic website, My brain is now in overload with all the info you have provided!.
The only problam is, I'm a sparks not a builder!.
Anyway, I have removed the worlds most wonkeist uneven block paving in the world from my front garden (previous owner). There was approx 4/6inches of sand ontop of neatly laid old house bricks which I have also removed and I am now down to the sub grade.
Two questions at this stage.
1: Can the sand which is "slightly" mixed with fine topsoil be used again as a sub base with added DTp1 or "50mm" stones?.
2: My existing driveway alonside the house falls level with the DPC at the front of the house/ garden, I know about the 150mm rule from the site which I totally understnd and lineir drainage etc, but I'm not sure which way to "slope" the project as it apears at this stage (without exact measurement) that the footpath will be higher if i go 150mm below the DPC level from the house and my existing driveway will be higher than my "proposed" finnished paving.
Can someone tell me the best way to go with matching finished paving to existing driveway / footpath / DPC.Aaarrgh!!

:O PS, The area is a 5mtr x 5mtr surface and a small concreate wall at the front.

And just to let you know I'm a Qualified Supervisor for the N.I.C.E.I.C. and fully conversant with BS7671 wiring regs if you want any info on laying cables in ground works but I won't give final connections info for H&S reasons :;):

What is underneath the sand now? Any base material? The sand mixed with topsoil thing sounds squirrely to me.

Any pics? That might help with the sloping question, my head is spinning.

Probably too late now but you can't/shouldn't re-use bedding sand, and especially not as a sub-base. Bin it!

As for the falls, as Dan said, without a site layout or a photie, it's all but impossible to suggest what would work best.
