I wish to give a heartfelt thank you to Tony McCormack for his good advice, this website and the contributors and helpers who make it such a help and source of first class information.
Several years ago I started researching the best way to resurface a very old, broken down driveway and found this site.
I have posted several questions of the years, such as: how do you know that a driveway needs repair? How big does a hole have to be before it is a pot hole and not just a characteristic of the driveway? And some even dafter questions.
Why? Well I am only a joint owner of the driveway. The other owner, for his own reasons, opposed fixing the driveway. So we have had three Surveyor Reports (all saying the driveway needed repair), one suspended Sheriff Court action, threats to the Contractor, deliberate blocked driveway, visits from the Police (several), thousands of pounds in lawyer's fees, and so on.
In the end though, we went from this:
To this:
I would have preferred something in a paver or natural stone; it would have looked great against the building, but at least this stops me having to wade across puddles and mud to get to my front door.
It was all very stressful and unnecessary.
So, if I had all the stress and all the costs, why I am I thanking you?
Well, the technical aspects of the Site helped me approach the problems and deliberate delaying questions with confidence. Although I am an engineer, having the correct terms helped a lot.
But mainly, it was simply that it kept me sane because I could see what I wanted wasn't unusual, unreasonable and others out there were getting on with it. The fact that there are people out there willing to spend a little time giving good advice to others, for no reward, is very encouraging.
So to all the Brew Cabin participants;
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Thank you, one and all - Driveway done.

300 m is going to cost a few quid, whatever you decide to do
try and sort it out with the neighbour amicably
court could ruin both of you,mentally and financially
